Film – Light at the End of the Tunnel

Light at the End of the Tunnel

A poetic exploration of a woman’s subconscious. A surreal black and white journey through a dark tunnel as her mind makes connections to different memories and experiences.
Starring Cristiana Bodnariuc

COMMENTS:

I was definitely channelling Meshes of the Afternoon (1943) – the great classic experimental film by Maya Deren. In a totally surreal way I wanted to explore the relationship between various objects, their meaning and the theme of a journey through a dark tunnel. The tunnel and journey is something I have incorporated in previous films.

As each object is discovered, it sends the young lady in a different psychological journey.  There’s even a breaking of the fourth wall where she knowingly smiles at the audience.

We were lucky to be able to shoot during the fireworks festival so that provided an amazing  back drop. Christina and I met doing some photography and it was great to work together on this film on a warm summer evening.
